The number of corporations settled CBD has been on the rise steadily. By August 2006, the number of various types of corporations settled CBD have reached 4056, an increase of 1046 units as against same period last year. Among these, 2429 were service-type enterprises which formed the leading industry of CBD, accounting for 59.88% of all corporations. 720 were foreign-funded enterprises from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao, accounting for 17.75%.
Local tax revenue in the CBD also increased. From January to August 2006, CBD achieved 2.81 billion yuan of tax revenue, increasing by 420 million yuan and the increase rate was 17.76%; among which modern service industry contributed 1.42 billion yuan of tax revenue, accounting for 51% of the total, increasing by 320 million yuan and the increase rate was 28.82%.
Foreign-funded enterprises expanded the amount of investment in the CBD. From January to August 2006, the total amount of paid-in foreign capital was US$ 290 million, accounting for 20.13% of the total paid-in capital of Chaoyang District.
In the meantime, the number of employees in the CBD increased rapidly. The number of employees working in various types of corporations reached 116,000, an increase of 34,000 units as against same period last year. The increase rate in domestic enterprises was obviously higher than that of foreign-funded enterprises.
