Every day, millions of people come to CBD to work, spend their leisure time, go shopping and enjoy themselves from different places of Beijing. Miss Zhang, the finance manager of an insurance company, is one of them. After long time focusing on the computer for calculating the data, she likes watching the green sceneries outside the office building. And when it comes to the time of day off, she always looks out of the window to see the traffic situation of the avenue. She usually says: Hope there is no traffic jam today.
And this hope will be realized soon, as a green, humanistic, recreational and unblocked Beijing is coming to us.
Two Green Belts and Four Big Parks on the New Green Humanistic Clothing of CBD
The four theme parks: Historical and Cultural Park, Performance Arts Square, Science &Technology Information Park and Natural Science Park will be set up in four districts of CBD, which respectively are in the northwest, southeast, northeast and southeast. And they are connected by two green belts forming the circularity afforest system of CBD.
The two east-west afforest belts will be built up from the north of Chaoyang road to the Tonghui River North Rd. in the south, going through the entire CBD, which is connected with the afforest bank of Tonghui River forming the main afforest system in circle within CBD. The afforest belts are connected with office areas and located in the center, where people are easily concentrated. They will allow people to freely enjoy the outdoor natural public rest. At the same time, the shops around also can put up their awnings, tables, chairs and some rest facilities outside for recreational and leisure for everybody bringing people closer to the natural environment.
Another big component of afforest system is the four big theme parks, formally started in September, 2005. And in next few years, two theme parks that are featured with the outstanding styles and 25ha will be built. One will be built at the south of Central Park and Jianwai SOHO, and another will be set up at the west of Beijing TV Art Center, closing to the new location of CCTV.
At present, the theme park at the south of Central Park has got its namesculpture Park. The main part of this theme park is to create an afforest public walking space. And a path is lined across the greenbelt. For displaying the integrity of the greenbelt, a high platform has been designed to be over the road, which connects greenbelts on either side. The platform is composed of three basic parts. The two sides of this platform are heightened walks, and the center of it is Euphotic Pool. In the greenbelt, many works of world famous sculptors are placed, which makes the green belt a fashionable art square. The other three theme parks are under construction and predicated to be completed around 2008.
The amalgamation of theme parks?humanistic ambiance and CBD's commercial atmosphere will promote the balance of commerce and human culture and further improve the entire commercial value of CBD. After four big theme parks being completed, CBD is environment afforestration and centralized greenbelt will occupy 12% of CBD is total layout. The Connected Ground and Underground Roads: Create a Straightway CBD
The traffic problem has been focused on in fast developing area, and Beijing CBD is no exception. As population is picking up everyday, CBD is answer is: In the CBD there will be four bus interchange stations, seven major subway stations and three subterranean channels traffic system in the future. The CBD will never be the bottleneck of Beijing is traffic.
The public traffic will be of first priority:
The public traffic will take 56% in the future CBD. Within the area of CBD, there will be two circulating bus lines for people to choose. For this line, dedicated public transportation lane will be allocated, and bulky bus will be adopted. At the edge of the area, there will be four bus stations, which are located at the northeast corner of Dabeiyao, Northwest corner of Dabeiyao, north point of the afforest belt of southeast of this area and west of Jingguang center. People taking the public vehicle can take bus at bus station beside the area or take the subway to enter CBD, then people can transfer by taking the buses.
Underground Traffic extends to all directors:
Underground traffic will be a good choice for existing and entering CBD in the future. The three layer underground traffic infrastructures will fully meet your demands of walking and driving. The first underground layer will be arranged with the commercial infrastructures and walks that connect with the ground walking ways and the second underground layer's porch for forming traditional walking way system. If you want to go to the Fortune Center, you can go into the underground path to arrive at your target place in agreeable commercial environment without walking under the sun. And if you do not want to walk, you can go to the second underground layer for driving and parking. In the second underground layer, there are two exits. The garage exit will connect with the main-road, so that people do not need to make the round underground. In the third layer, people can directly drive his or her car across Chang'an Avenue. At the same time, CBD will add four subway lines and seven subway stations. So if people do want to drive, CBD also is very convenient.
Moreover, Chanyang district will expand the main roads of CBD area and increase the density of the road network. An unblocked CBD will not be far away from us.
Intelligent Traffic System (ITS): CBD high-tech proposition updated
Acknowledging traffic jams by clicking the mouse, acquiring the most convenient route by GPS system, sorts of services of so called intelligent traffic system, would be available for townspeople next year.
Appointing the 4-squarekilometer CBD as the center, around some 36 square kilometer experimental intelligent traffic area is under construction, which would be completed before 2007 as the present for the World Congress on ITS in Beijing that year. The ITS for CBD consists of 6 parts: traffic signal control, traffic information system, traffic flow detection, traffic monitoring system, monitoring system for traffic peccancy, and management and control center of CBD ITS. Among them, the traffic information system has been regarded as the most humanized design. With that system, key commercial sites, such as large office buildings and hotels, would be fixed with real-time traffic information system, which enables users to check the traffic status before setting out, helping them choose better route and transport and saves much time. At that time, a comprehensive, intelligent, and humanized traffic management system would be put into practical use in CBD.
Some say that CBD becomes more and more unfamiliar, since it always develops beyond imagination, while others say CBD comes closer and closer, because everything melts into daily life smoothly and naturally, no matter life, job or recreation. Whatever people say, it could not be denied that a CBD, with fragrance of nature and atmosphere of the metropolis, is changing our life everyday.
