From now on, the underground pipe nets will be checked first before starting any construction in CBD. The Governor of Chaoyang District, Dr. Chen Gang said, after the sink accident in east Third Ring Road, ¡°Tonghuihe north road and Guangqu road will finish the construction in the first half year of 2006. Xidawang road and other key roads around CBD will finish their construction too by the end of this year. 39% of CBD¡¯s area will be used to build roads, and this can not be seen in any other areas of Beijing.¡± In the sink accident, the newly opened Guandongdian south road played an important role in alleviating the traffic. Since the reason of the sink accident is the sewage pipes, so pipes will be checked first before any constructions in CBD.
