Starting Ceremony for the Construction of Main Building of CCTV New Site Project are held

At 10:10 O¡¯clock of April 28, 2005, the starting ceremony for the construction of Main Building of CCTV New Site Project was held at the site, attended by the comrades concerned from the relevant commissions, offices and bureaus of the municipal government, the government of Chaoyang District, and the CBD Administrative Commission.
The CCTV New Site Project covers a floor area of 599,500 square meters with a total investment of RMB 7.89 billion, among which investment of RMB 3 billion is planned to complete. The CCTV new site is composed of the CCTV Main Building located on the southwest side of the park area, the TVCC on the northwest side and the Energy Service Center on the northeast side. The CCTV Main Building started today mainly includes five areas, namely the administrative area, the comprehensive operation area, the news production and broadcasting area, the broadcasting transmission area and the program production area. The TVCC will be put into use before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and the CCTV Main Building will be completed in 2009 according to the plan. The starting of the Main Building Project indicates that the CCTV New Site Project is fully open for construction.
The CCTV is the domestic TV agency with the exclusive broadcasting rights for the reports of the Olympic Games. As the largest independent construction of China¡¯s media industry, the new site will carry this solemn historical mission. As a national TV media and the public cultural window open to the world, the CCTV will add new vitality to the business circle of CBD that integrates finance, commerce, trade and information, feel directly the vigorous pulse of the Capital and even the entire economy of China, and embody them in its most accurate and quickest reports.
