It is learnt by the reporter yesterday from the project headquarters of the municipal Gonglian Company that after completion within the year, the Tonghuihe Beilu (North Road of the Tonghui River) will form a radiation line connecting the 2nd, the 3rd, and the 4th ring roads in the east of the Capital city, and a quickspeed connecting line between the downtown area and the Jing-Tong (Beijing-Tongzhou) Expressway. The four big flyover bridges to be newly built along the line are intersected at the 2nd, the 3rd, and the 4th ring roads respectively, thereby forming an air transition ¡°hinge¡± of vehicle flow in the eastern side of the city. The Tonghuihe Beilu (North Road of the Tonghui River) starts from Dongbianmen Flyover Bridge of the 2nd East Ring Road and ends at the Sihui Flyover Bridge of the 4th East Ring Road, with a total of 4 kilometers. The current condition is that there is no road, and at the south side is Tonghui River, with many large-scale enterprise units and government-sponsored institutions, as well as residential areas at the north side. To alleviate the traffic conditions of the East Chang-an Avenue and the Jianguomen Area, and improve the urban traffic conditions of the surrounding areas of the CBD, the Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government decide to implement the Tonghuihe Beilu (North Road of the Tonghui River) project.
According to plan, the newly built Tonghuihe Beilu (North Road of the Tonghui River) is of urban quickspeed road standard, with the road red line being 45 meters wide, and the standard road cross-section is of three-breadths, of which, the main roads are of two-breadths, the middle separation zone is 2 meters wide, the two vehicle driveways at both sides are of two-way four traffic lanes, with also emergency parking area, each being 11 meters wide. At the north side of the main road, there is an east-to-west one-way auxiliary road, being 9-11.5 meters wide. The separation zone between the main road and the auxiliary road is 1.5¡¡C2 meters wide, and the passengers¡¯ sidewalk is 2 meters wide each.
The construction road area of this project is 136,700 square meters, intersected with a number of urban highways. The four newly built flyover bridges are: a two-level interflow directional flyover bridge at the intersection between the Tonghuihe Beilu and the 2nd East Ring Road to ensure continuous traffic flow of the Tonghuihe Beilu (North Road of the Tonghui River); a diamond-shaped flyover bridge at the intersection between the Tonghuihe Beilu (North Road of the Tonghui River) and the Yonganli Dongjie, with the Tonghuihe Beilu crossing over the Yonganli Dongjie; a diamond-shaped flyover bridge at the intersection between the Tonghuihe Beilu and the 3rd East Ring Road, with the Tonghuihe Beilu crossing over the current high-level bridge and the current auxiliary road of the 3rd East Ring Road, achieving traffic switch between the Tonghuihe Beilu and the 3rd East Ring Road; and one flyover bridge at the intersection between the Tonghuihe Beilu and the Xidawang Road, with the Tonghuihe Beilu crossing over the Xidawang Road. Meanwhile, Tonghuihe Beilu shall also intersect with the 4th East Ring Road and the Jingtong (Beijing-Tongzhou) Expressway, and the intersecting bridge shall be the current interflow directional Sihui Flyover Bridge. This flyover bridge has already retained express connection conditions with the Tonghuihe Beilu. During the current construction, there shall be two directional circuit roads built in the west side of the Sihui Flyover Bridge, to solve the problem of the 4th East Ring Road from the north to the west traffic flow and the Jingtong Expressway from the east to the west traffic flow; at the same time, there shall also be a west-east directional circuit road built from the Tonghuihe Beilu directly to the Jingtong Expressway, and the west-east left-turn directional circuit road to the 4th East Ring Road, as well as the west-east left-turn directional circuit road of the Jingtong Expressway to the 4th East Ring Road.
It is learnt that to ensure passengers safety to cross the street, there shall be 4 passengers overpasses built along the road. Public utility pipelines, such as water pipeline, electricity cables, natural gas pipelines, and heating supply pipelines etc., shall also be built along the entire construction line; meanwhile, projects such as greening, lighting, and traffic engineering etc. shall also be implemented along the project at the same time.
After completion and open to traffic, the Tonghuihe Beilu shall alleviate the traffic problems along the East Changan Ave and the Jianguomen areas, and improve the traffic conditions and environmental features of the surrounding areas of the Central Business District.
