| Chaoyang District starts standardizing the English signs used at pubulic places |

According to the important instructions issued by the Beijing Municipal Government concerning the standardization of English signs used at public places and the overall program for work standardization, the work of standardizing English signs is to be conducted in an all-round manner immediately. On February 15, Mr. Xie Chaobin, deputy head leader of Chaoyang District, presided the key projects deplyment meeting. English signs have already been used at the Wangjing Zone and Panjiayuan Second-hand GoodsMarket in our district, the western Electronic City, CBD Zone, Maizidian Bilingual Comminity, Gaopidian International folklore and Tourism Resort and the surrounding areas of the stadium for the World Youth Championship have been chosen as the pilot places to popularize the use of English signs this year. He points out that this is a most important task to ensure the successful holding of the World Youth Championship and the Olympic Games, as well as the implementation of the district globalization strategy. He expresses his wish that the sectors of all levels will attatch great importance to the work and ensure the timely and full accomplishment of their own task by taking effective measures.
