Manhattan China Business Center, a business office supported by Manhattan borough, New York, started operation in Beijing on June 15, 2005. This Center is the result of the cooperation between Chaoyang District and Manhattan borough after signing the Letter of Intent for Friendly Communication last year. Chen Gang, the chief director of Chaoyang District, Rao Jiren, the representative of the Manhattan office, and Vincent Chin, Commercial Counselor of the U.S. Embassy participated in the foundation ceremony. The letter sent by Mrs. Virginia Fields, Warden of Manhattan, said that the establishment of the Center had great significance to the communication between Chinese and American business groups. Mr. Chen Gang addressed that Chaoyang District and Manhattan borough are both areas full of vitality and business opportunities, and that the two can help each other in various areas. He hoped that the Center would provide convenient services that can promote the communication between the industrial and commercial circles of China and the United States, and make efforts to promote the growth of the economy of the two countries.
